On a LAB – exercise alone wont decrease bad cholesterol levels.

The key concept is – exercise is a better enabler for the body. Your diet gives you the fat needed by body – that can be carried by the lipoproteins which we term as cholesterol.

Theoritically exercise without a proper diet wont help you. But i feel the doctor put it in a completely blunt way that is misleading.

    Wish you all the best

Exercise works to eliminate the dangerous, fatty LDL cholesterol by increasing HDL cholesterol. Losing weight also increases HDL

Exercise is great for you from head to toe. It makes your heart stronger, and it’s a powerful way to lower your LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and boost your HDL (“good”) cholesterol

The dead giveaway that tells you when Amazon has a better price.

This tool looks for lower prices at other stores while you shop on Amazon and tells you where to buy.

    Not true at all.

I did indoor cycling for about 3 months. Results were as follows. TOTAL reduced 22%. HDL increased by 52%. LDL reduced by 32%. Triglycerides reduced by 36%.

The above were obtained through five 30 minutes sessions weekly at above 80% of calculated max heart rate.

Ignore those who advice diet as the means of improving Cholesterol levels. Firstly, you have to abstain from eating for at least 12 hours before going for the Lipids test. By that time, whatever you have eaten has probably dissipated from the blood stream and entered your body. As you have to draw blood for the test, so the only Cholesterol are the ones manufactured by the body. That is the reason for fasting for at least 12 hours. To get the ACTUAL Cholesterol readings produced by the body, not those that were consumed.

The second point is that, IF certain foods can improve Cholesterol levels, then why are the manufacturers of Statins not spending on research into those foods and start manufacturing the solution. After all, Statins have bad after effects for some people. Any drugs from normal food do not have that liability and would therefore be very popular.

Conclusion, exercise is the ONLY way to improve Cholesterol levels. You have to take care that you reach an adequate level of effort balanced with duration and frequency. Walking will definitely not result in much improvement.

In my experience, exercise has major role in our health incuding impact on cholesterol levels.

Higher cholesterol level is an indication that you are suffering from metabolic disorders -obesity, blood pressure issues, pre diabetes, diabetes, and other auto immune disease. CRP and ESR blood tests helps a doctor to carry out other blood tests to prescribe appropriate treatments.

It can increase HDL cholesterol. However, it’s not going to make a huge impact on cholesterol.

This is a complex issue and the assertion that “exercise has no impact on cholesterol levels”, though possibly true in some circumstances for the total cholesterol level, is grossly simplistic, as the different kinds of cholesterol (especially between HDL and LDL and even between different fractions of LDL) are affected differently.

In relation to the risk from atheroma disease, the pattern of changes in cholesterol with exercise is highly beneficial – and this is compounded by beneficial effects on chronic inflammation, diabetes, blood pressure, obesity and stress.
