Anxiety disorder is a severe mental health problem. It produces unnecessary worries, hyper stress, restlessness, fear, nausea, etc. These unhealthy conditions are strong enough to interfere with a person’s life and his whole personality. He loses all his energy and vitality.
The question is whether it is easy to come out with such unhealthy mental condition and if yes how long it takes.
Well, it depends on the severity of the disorder how long this state will remain. The period of time varies differently for different individuals. In some cases, it may take a few weeks or months and in some cases, it becomes a lifetime problem. Such a person becomes so addicted to this mental condition and gets trapped in it that it becomes impossible to get out.
Usually, for people with a severe Anxiety disorder, it becomes very difficult to treat them after they have developed this disorder as a part of their personality.
Medication may help, the counsellor may treat to his best but sometimes some people are there who do not respond to any kind of treatment. It becomes quite impossible to determine a set time period to get rid of anxiety disorder.
Only if a person is determined to get out of this condition and follow the instructions of a counsellor or take regular exercises, eat a healthy diet, stay away from drugs, breathe deeply, he can get out of this disorder within a short period of three to four months.
It depends upon how much he is willing to relive his life. It is a slow process. Never imagine anything can be done overnight. New techniques, new therapy are coming to take place, nothing does a miracle. We have to be patient with a patient suffering from anxiety disorders.
When someone is experiencing anxiety issues for a long time, it is natural to want to get rid of this emotion completely, with all its implications: unpleasant physiological symptoms, repeated concerns, the need to check or avoid various things. But it is important to understand that anxiety is not always a problem, on the contrary, it is often a valuable ally.
Anxiety should be seen as an instrument – like an alarm system mounted on a car.
This tool was developed by the human mind because it serves an important adaptive purpose: it protects us from potential danger.
Anxiety, however, becomes a problem when this instrument becomes disruptive and produces more costs than benefits. For example, the alarm system of our car is disturbed and at the slightest vibration, the force is triggered as if someone were knocking on the door.
We don’t go to the mechanic to “heal” our car – that would mean removing the alarm system completely, which would expose us unnecessarily to a greater risk: not knowing ourselves or others when someone threatens our car.
Similarly, eliminating anxiety in our lives would mean exposing ourselves to the risk of not detecting when we or our loved ones are in danger. Moreover, anxiety is an important motivating factor in our lives: how often do we not learn more for an exam because we are anxious about success? Or we are more focused on a task at work or we attach more importance to life events.
In many situations our success is due to the extra effort we invest due to the anxiety we feel in the face of uncertainty.
Therefore, a more appropriate question is this: Can we treat anxiety problems? Can we fix this tool when it brings us more costs than benefits? And the answer is “Yes!” However, we must be aware that chronic anxiety problems cannot be fixed by a single drug or therapy session. It takes work and patience for the intervention to work.
And how long the treatment lasts, depends on each individual, the type of treatment and the surrounding environment.

AS I am out of date and retired I have not heard of this EFT system so I cannot make any suggestions.
Usually people with severe Anxiety disorder are very difficult to treat after a long term as they develop a personality disorder as well and the worry and stress that forms the anxiety is always there.
If you continuously worry, panic and get stressed out at the slightest thing it will never go away.
I always say that getting to the root of the problem and talking things through has worked for me and my patients. Some do not respond because they do not like talking about the things that are causing them to worry or they are just natural born worriers and nothing can stop them.
Some are just scared of life itself and everything in the world is going to happen to them and they get stresses out.
A good psychologist or therapist, a decent Benzodiazepam, and one to one sessions, not group therapy as I do not feel people open up as much as they do with one to one, then the chances are you can rid yourself of anxiety and once you know what is causing it then you should stay clear of that situation.
It is a slow process and nothing is done over night so do not expect any miracle cure, but with new techniques coming to light every day, meaning there are newer ways to treat these problems.
Of course the patient must be willing and want to get well again.
As I always say this is my opinion and experience on this subject.
This is a very good question and for many the answer would be “How long is a piece of string”.
However, in my opinion, it all depends on the help you get. If you go down the conventional route of: Doctor >Medication >Psychotherapy / Talk therapy, you could be talking years.
If you were to seek out the comparatively new methods of alternative therapies, such as Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT or Tapping), recovery can be shortened considerably. A good EFT therapist will be able to discover the actual cause of your anxiety disorder, which in many cases originates in childhood, and deal with that in a specific way.
It has been found that once the original cause of a problem has been ‘dealt with’, the symptoms you outwardly display, such as shying away from people, will no longer be needed.
One client of mine, who had suffered from Severe Anxiety for around 30 years, and had been through the conventional system with no improvement, started to see large improvements in 2-3 months.

Anxiety disorder is mental health condition which creates a feeling of worry, anxiety and fear strong enough to interfere with a person’s daily life. It can be cured if proper treatment is given. Medication can help but, person becomes addictive and gets trapped in chain and may never get out of it. A person who is determined to get out of this and follows a strict diet routine with regular exercises and also some breathing exercises, can get out of this in a short period of three months.
